The little fighter against the big fight Lymphoma
Children’s cancer is a heartbreaking reality that affects thousands of families each year. It presents unique challenges as young patients and their families navigate difficult treatments and emotional struggles. Despite the hardships, children often show incredible resilience and bravery, inspiring everyone around them. Advances in research and treatment offer hope, but ongoing support and awareness are crucial in the fight against pediatric cancer, ensuring that every child has a chance at a healthy, bright future.
Maddie is one heck of a fighter! Maddie had lymphoblastic lymphoma, which is a non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She’s in remission, two years today actually and finished all her treatments are things are looking up. She celebrated with a photo session and showed off her Bravery Beads with me in the studio. I loved learning about her beads, and I loved watching her dance around as happy as can be.
The Bravery Bead Program invites patients at SickKids the opportunity to collect a different bead for each procedure or event while undergoing treatment. The colourful beads are not given as a reward but rather are earned, and they represent the unique and special treatment journey of each child. The beads are collected making a meaningful necklace showing their bravery. If ypu want to learn more about the beads, please visit: SickKids – Bravery Bead Program
