What happens during a newborn baby photoshoot?
At a newborn photography session with Centreline Design you can expect a clean studio space where parents can expect a calm, comfortable, and safe environment tailored for their little one. The session typically lasts 2-3 hours to allow for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing the baby between shots. Longer full sessions including family and siblings can take up to 4 hours with breaks for feeding.
These newborn sessions take place within the first 14 days when possible and will be in my studio space just outside Lindsay. Studio is located 15 minutes east of Lindsay, Ontario and about 30 minutes from Peterborough. I do try to take baby out of car seat and get them undressed and ready to be wrapped up right away as I find the more they get used to my sound and smell the easier I can work with them.
I will take extra care to maintain a warm and cozy atmosphere to keep the newborn comfortable and relaxed. If there is a grandparent or spouse who can take any other older children out of the studio after the family photos it is great appreciated, for myself and for them. The sessions can be long and boring for children and I’d like to keep the room calm for baby.
Parents will see a variety of props, blankets, and backdrops designed to create beautiful, timeless images. I as your photographer will gently guide the session, positioning the baby in safe and adorable poses, always prioritizing the baby’s well-being. The odd time I may ask a parent to assist with comforting or holding the baby at times, but they are also encouraged to sit back and relax while the photographer works. I’m happy to do everything and love doing the feedings when I can. I find the more I can hold the baby in between the poses the smoother the transitions go from one prop or pose to another.
Most importantly, the experience will feel personal and un-rushed, allowing for those tender, peaceful moments to be captured beautifully in a clean, serene studio setting.

The best part about sitting back and relaxing while watching a professional newborn photographer work is seeing your baby’s precious early moments captured in a calm, gentle environment. You get to soak in the experience without stress, knowing your little one is in expert hands. It’s a special time to appreciate the beauty and innocence of your newborn while witnessing those perfect, fleeting moments turn into timeless memories.

The best part about picking colours for your newborn session is that you get to personalize the experience, choosing shades that reflect your style and create the perfect atmosphere for your baby’s photos. Whether you prefer soft neutrals, pastel tones, or vibrant hues, the colours you select set the tone for the session, helping to highlight your baby’s delicate features and creating timeless, beautiful images you’ll cherish forever.
For example, some people love to see a pop of colour on their walls and others want neutral colours to match their decor. There is no right or wrong answers but I am happy to help design something for you and order to print it you wish for me to order for you.

I encourage pictures and sometimes I’ll even take one photo on my clients phone of baby in a cute pose. This I find helps keep parents a little more patience when waiting for their images back, which is usually in a two week timeframe so you’re not waiting long. I also love when clients share the behind the scenes with me, it helps new parents know what to expect when they are looking to book a session.
