Why In-Home Boudoir Sessions Are a Beautiful and Empowering Choice
There’s something undeniably special about doing a boudoir session in your own home. It’s comfortable, personal, and filled with memories, making it the perfect setting to create intimate, confidence-boosting photos you’ll cherish forever. I’m excited to be now offering in home boudoir sessions, in and around the Kawartha Lakes. This give me the fun and flexibility of using new spaces keeping my creative soul happy and keeps you more comfortable in your space.
In-home boudoir sessions offer a completely unique experience. Instead of navigating an unfamiliar studio, you get to be in your own space, surrounded by your things, and most importantly more relaxed. From the cozy light coming through your bedroom window to the comfort of your favourite blanket or sweater, everything about the session is a reflection of you. I’ve had people come to the studio and feel sick to their stomach and I feel awful, after a few shots they usually feel better and get into the groove but I thought in home sessions can help those who are nervous. You could also book a session with a friend so you and a friend can have fun together getting ready and each have your own images.
These sessions can also feel more meaningful. Clients often bring in personal items or props that speak to their relationship, such as a spouse’s shirt, favourite team jersey, or even a shared book or mug. It’s about telling your story in a way that feels natural and emotionally connected.
A Few Notes to Prepare:
In-home sessions do not include professional hair and makeup, so it’s encouraged that you pamper yourself a little beforehand, either doing your own glam or asking a friend to help. Whether you keep it soft and simple, or bold and courageous have fun and do what feels right for you. When you feel confident, it shines through in your photos.
Timing is Key
The best time for in-home boudoir sessions is mid-day, when natural light pours into your home. Harsh light can create dramatic shadows that highlight your natural curves and bring a beautiful, artistic edge to your images. A simple window can become your most flattering light source!
Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, planning a surprise gift, or just doing something bold for yourself an in-home boudoir session can be the perfect mix of comfort and confidence. You don’t need to look like a model or wear fancy lingerie to be beautiful. You just need to show up as yourself—and let your light shine.

- An oversized button-down shirt (your own or your partner’s)
- A sports jersey (especially one from your spouse’s favorite team—bonus points for personalization!)
- Work uniforms (think: firefighter jacket, construction vest, or police shirt)
- A cozy sweater slipping off the shoulder for a soft, intimate feel
- A fitted tank top and panties for a casual and sexy look
- A simple robe or silk kimono
- A pair of jeans, unbuttoned slightly, paired with a bralette or nothing at all
- Your spouse’s tie, suspenders, or hat for a playful or sentimental touch
