Tips for making the best at your next boudoir session.

I’d love to share a few tips to make the best of your boudoir session. Feel free to reach out to book your session, or ask any other questions you might have. Studio located in Kawartha Lakes Ontario.

1. Bring Extras

You want to do this right, and every detail should be perfect. If you’re investing time and money into your
boudoir session and buying new lingerie, the last thing you want is to have a rip in your lace corset or a run in your stockings the day of your shoot.

2. Spend Time Trying On and Testing Outfits

It’s no secret that our bodies change over time, we gain weight, we lose weight, we have children, we spend more time at the gym. Some things that used to look great on us just won’t anymore, and some things that we couldn’t quite fit into we will rock now. Try on your items and know what you feel most confident and sexy in.

3. Go Shopping

If your closet doesn’t bring that va-va-voom you’re looking for, maybe it’s time to go shopping. You never need an excuse to go shopping, but it’s nice to have one. Your upcoming Boudoir session is definitely an excuse. And be sure to ask for help in the lingerie department if you aren’t sure what is best fit for you and your curves.

4. Wear Loose Fitting Comfy Clothes to the Boudoir Studio

Skip anything that might leave an impression in your skin, tight bra, watch, belt, and those tight jeans. It may seem like a small thing, but these lines can dampen the look of a great outfit. Besides, you want to relax and feel confident, and tight clothes are only going to restrict you.

5. Drink Plenty of Fluids and get a good night rest

Three words: Water. Water. Water. And make sure to avoid alcohol and salt, as these will dry out your skin. As well a few days before your shoot, cut out as much sugar, carbs and processed foods as possible. Your skin will thank you, as well as keep you from looking bloated and puffy. Get as much sleep as you can the night before and eat something light the day of your shoot.

6. Rock Clothes that are Right for Your Body

Bring clothing that makes you FEEL sexy, not what you THINK is sexy. Don’t purposely go out and buy lingerie that doesn’t make you feel comfortable or is over the top. It will read in your photos, on your face, and in your body language. The sexiest clothing items to bring are fall-off-the-shoulder tops, cropped soft sweaters, lacy underthings, simple black and white bras/panties, stockings/thigh highs/soft over-the-knee socks, and subtle jewelry and hair pieces/flowers. Layering items is always a good thing to keep in mind. And remember to bring some SEXY HEELS!! Please stick to solid colours, and no busy patterns that would make the photographs look dated.

7. Don’t Fake Tan

No sprays, no gels, no lotions. Don’t try out any new tanning methods before your session. You want to look natural and beautiful in your own skin.

8. Do Touch Up the Basics

If you dye your hair, get your hair done the week of your Boudoir Session. Shave the day of if possible, and spring for a mani-pedi the day before. You’d be amazed how these little details can make or break a photo session. These pictures are going to be around for a while, reminding you of just how awesome you look, don’t skimp the small stuff.
